As the New York State Workers' Compensation Board (Board) continues its efforts to expand the OnBoard family of services, we are focusing on the use of web-based platforms and electronic data submission to streamline our processes and move away from paper forms. To that end, we're transitioning to the electronic submission of forms.
The electronic submission process includes data validation, provides additional data fields to capture more specific information, ensures receipt of all required information, and automatically updates the case file upon successful submission. These benefits help reduce errors and processing times compared to the current paper form process.
eForms are available through the following three electronic submission methods:
- eCase: An eForm add-on in eCase that enables users to complete the form and submit it electronically. This process walks users through each field in the eForm using an online, wizard-based format.
- XML file: A file submission process, via secure file transfer protocol (sFTP), that allows users to submit electronic XML data to the Board.
- API: An online submission process via an application programming interface (API) that enables separate computer systems to talk to one another and exchange XML data, eliminating manual eForm data entry and streamlining the flow of form data into the case file.
There is a mandatory testing process for stakeholders opting to submit eForms via XML or API. Testing for stakeholders opting to use XML or API must be successfully completed in order to submit electronic form information to the Board. Please note: The process of filing eForms via eCase is very simple and does not require any testing or additional registration steps.
If you are interested in using the XML or API submission options, please review the eForms list below and click on the Form ID to obtain the technical requirements. You can also email the Board at eForms@wcb.ny.gov for more information about requirements and how you can prepare for the transition.
