Subject Number 046-1701 Reinstatement of Dr. Thomas Albus

Subject Numbers Regarding Health Provider Authorizations

Authorization No. 290960-4B

July 16, 2024

Pursuant to Workers' Compensation Law Section 13-d(4), the Chair of the New York State Workers' Compensation Board ("Chair") had exercised her authority to temporarily suspend the authorization of Dr. Thomas Albus (hereinafter, "the provider") to treat injured workers and to perform independent medical examinations in the New York State workers' compensation system effective May 28, 2024, (Subject Number 046-1689).

The temporary suspension was based on the Chair's designee's investigation, which revealed that on or about October 12, 2023, the Workers' Compensation Board's Medical Director's Office (MDO) served a letter upon the provider requesting a response within 20 days related to an independent medical examination complaint. Further, on or about May 16, 2024, the Chair's designee served a letter upon the provider requesting a response within 10 days to the October 12, 2023, letter from the MDO.

Upon receipt of a satisfactory response to the above-referenced letters, the Chair has rescinded the temporary suspension of the provider and has reinstated their authority to treat injured workers and to perform independent medical examinations effective July 16, 2024. The Medical Director's Office will restore the provider to the list of providers authorized to treat injured workers by July 16, 2024.

Any questions regarding the authorized lists should be referred to the Medical Director's Office at 1 (800) 781-2362.
